The Minister of Commerce met with the Swiss State Secretary for Economic Affairs on the sidelines of the 2023 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos. The discussion covered growing bilateral trade, the possibility of a Cambodia–Switzerland free trade agreement, and Swiss support to Cambodia’s development programs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the French Embassy in Cambodia signed a Joint Declaration of Intent to establish a mechanism for bilateral political consultations. The mechanism is intended to strengthen cooperation and relations between the two countries, particularly between their foreign ministries in their roles as national coordinators.

The delegation expressed Cambodia’s support for multilateralism, reported on its 2022 ASEAN chairmanship outcomes, and took part in a standing committee reviewing 15 draft resolutions.
The Ministry of Commerce and the Australian Embassy in Cambodia launched two market information research documents and announced a Single Digital Platform to support trade and investment. The platform will include an FTA Portal, a self-certification system for certificates of origin, and an international rule-of-origin verification system to help businesses maximise benefits from Cambodia’s free trade agreements.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport held a working meeting with Nippon Koei to review a presentation on improving passenger transport services along sections of the northern railway line covering Battambang, Serei Saophoan, and Poipet. The ministry also requested that the company consider a feasibility study for an urban tramway system in Phnom Penh as an alternative to previously studied automatic guideway transit options.
A Cambodian National Assembly delegation led by Tea Sokunth took part in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly’s Standing Committee on Political Affairs and the APA Executive Council meetings on 8 January 2023 in Antalya, Türkiye. The delegation also held a bilateral discussion with the Iranian parliamentary delegation to strengthen inter-parliamentary friendship and cooperation.
