On 13 March 2026, the National Assembly announced that Dr. Ly Cheng, Vice Chair of Commission 9 and adviser to the electronic parliament working group, led a meeting at the National Assembly building to review progress and strategies for strengthening information technology systems within the Secretariat-General of the National Assembly.
The meeting was attended by National Assembly Secretary-General Leng Peng Long, who also chairs the steering group for the electronic parliament initiative, along with senior Secretariat-General officials, department leaders, and relevant technical working groups.
According to the announcement, the discussion focused on accelerating implementation of the system to improve work efficiency in the digital era. Three priority workstreams were highlighted.
First, the Secretariat-General will study the operational capacity of the information technology systems to be used by the National Assembly, with the aim of ensuring that the selected functions match the institution’s operational needs.
Second, the initiative places emphasis on knowledge transfer and technical training for the National Assembly’s information technology team, including training in software management and system operations.
Third, the working group is preparing a cloud infrastructure strategy, including the establishment of clear principles for selecting the cloud data hosting location in order to support information security and management convenience.
The announcement also stated that the working group was asked to continue refining and expanding important content, improve attention to information content, and promote regular knowledge transfer and training for technical officials.
The National Assembly described the electronic parliament system as a strategic step that has received continued support and guidance from the institution’s leadership, particularly the President of the National Assembly, Khuon Sudary. The initiative was presented as part of efforts to respond to the government’s digital policy direction.
