On 27 March 2026, Chhuon Bitthol, Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology and director of the Dang Kambit Reservoir Project, led a site inspection of construction progress at the Dang Kambit reservoir dam in Sandan district, Kampong Thom province. He represented the Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology and was accompanied by ministry technical officials, the construction company’s technical team, and the technical supervision company from China.
According to the ministry’s update, overall construction progress had reached approximately 90% as of the inspection date. The left earth embankment was reported at 95% completion, while the right embankment had reached 68%. Spillway construction was reported at 69.15% completion. The ministry also stated that the concrete dam works and the site for installation of the electricity-generating turbine had been fully completed. At the time of the visit, the project team was preparing for additional construction of a wave protection wall on the dam crest.
During the inspection, the project leadership instructed the construction and technical supervision teams to continue paying close attention to construction quality and appearance in line with the required technical standards. The teams were also urged to accelerate remaining works to ensure completion according to the planned schedule, with the project intended to support water resource management and regional development.
