Background
Senate Group 5 convened an internal preparatory meeting to formulate the chamber’s opinions on four draft laws scheduled for plenary consideration. The session was chaired by Um Sarith in his capacity as group head and as chair of the Senate’s 9th Committee.
A draft law before the Senate seeks parliamentary approval for Cambodia to become a state party to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and its Protocol on matters specific to aircraft equipment. Three additional draft laws seek ratification of ASEAN mutual recognition instruments covering a framework agreement on mutual recognition procedures, a sector-specific MRA for building materials and construction, and an MRA addressing approval categories for motor-vehicle products.

The four draft laws are regulatory instruments intended to give domestic legal effect to international and regional agreements through parliamentary approval. - Draft law approving the ASEAN mutual recognition arrangement for building materials and construction-related products.
- Draft law approving an ASEAN mutual recognition arrangement on categories of approval for motor-vehicle products.
