Background
On 20 March 2026, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, in collaboration with the Provincial Department of Women’s Affairs in Siem Reap province and with support from UN Women, organized an intergenerational dialogue under the theme of promoting women’s leadership in the public sector at sub‑national level. The dialogue was held at Somadevi Angkor Hotel in Siem Reap province and was presided over by H.E. The Chhunhak, Director General of the General Directorate of Gender Equality and Economic Development.
The ministry highlighted that promoting women’s leadership and achieving gender equality requires women across generations to support one another and to build self‑confidence through structured intergenerational dialogue.
Scope of Application
The activity targeted women leaders and officials working in public sector institutions at sub‑national level. Participants included leaders and working groups from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the Secretariat of the National Council for Women, deputy governors of the provincial board of governors, deputy directors of provincial administrations, deputy directors of departments, heads and deputy heads of the Provincial Department of Women’s Affairs and office heads, deputy heads of other provincial departments, and women deputy governors at municipal and district levels. A total of 61 participants attended, including 58 women.

The dialogue focused on three main objectives:
- To share experiences and encourage continued cooperation between senior women leaders and younger women who have recently joined the public sector at sub‑national level, with particular attention to creating a supportive environment for women in leadership roles.
- To support the strengthening of women’s confidence as leaders in the public sector at sub‑national level by jointly identifying challenges and sharing strategies and solutions to advance gender‑responsive and inclusive leadership.
- To reinforce networking, solidarity and mutual support among women leaders in the public sector at sub‑national level, especially by promoting intergenerational cooperation to contribute to social harmony, good governance, an enabling environment and sustainable development in Cambodia.
