Background
On 26 March 2026, Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, conducted a field inspection of the irrigation infrastructure development project for the Ta Si Samaki agricultural community in Ta Meun Commune, Thma Koul District, Battambang Province.
According to the ministry, the project is financed by the World Bank through the Cambodia Agricultural Diversification Project.
Project Components and Progress
The ministry stated that the project had achieved approximately 88% completion at the time of the visit.
The reported works include:
- rehabilitation of one reservoir measuring 88 metres by 36 metres by 7 metres;
- construction of one new reservoir measuring 70 metres by 40 metres by 4 metres;
- installation of an irrigation piping system with a total length of 9,231 metres;
- drilling of wells and installation of solar-powered motor systems at six locations;
- installation of solar-powered water pumping units at four locations;
- construction of two pumping stations; and
- construction of two floating pumping stations.
