On 24 March 2026, Pech Vassana, Undersecretary of State and Project Director of Reservoir Dam Development Project No. 2, led a technical team from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, together with the consulting company, construction company, and leadership of the Pursat Provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, to inspect on-site construction progress of the project in Rokat Commune, Phnom Kravanh District, Pursat Province.
The project is located on the Promoy Stream, approximately 70 kilometers from Pursat provincial town. According to the ministry, the project is focused on the construction of major water infrastructure and related access works.
Background
Reservoir Dam Development Project No. 2 is being implemented in Pursat Province under the supervision of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology. The reported field visit was conducted to review actual progress at the construction site and coordinate with the technical, consulting, and construction teams involved in implementation.
Key Project Components
The ministry stated that the project includes the following main components:
- An earth dam with a length of 410 meters
- A concrete spillway with a length of 281 meters
- One fish ladder
- One community building
- An access road to the project site with a length of 11.55 kilometers
- Fifty bridge and culvert structures
The total implementation period is 38 months. Construction began in January 2025 and is scheduled for full completion in March 2028.
Implementation Status
During the inspection, the Undersecretary of State instructed the technical consultant and construction company to maintain close attention to worksite safety and to ensure that implementation follows the required technical standards. He also urged acceleration of construction so that works proceed in line with the schedule set out in the contract.
