On 14 March 2026, Chun Putharith, Director General of the General Department of Technical Affairs of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, led a technical team to inspect and assess progress on the construction of the Bassac River embankment in Prek Chrey Sangkat, Sampov Poun City, Kandal Province, on behalf of the Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology.
According to the ministry, the embankment project has a total length of 500 metres. As of the inspection date, construction progress had reached approximately 55 percent.
During the inspection, the Director General instructed engineers and technical staff to continue paying close attention to construction quality and to ensure compliance with engineering technical standards so that the structure would be durable and suitable for long-term use. He also called for work to proceed efficiently in line with the established master plan, with attention to orderliness and visual suitability in relation to the surrounding environment for public benefit and sustainability.
