On 13 March 2026, Van Chantho, Under Secretary of State and Director of the Integrated Water Resources Management Project (IWRMP), led a technical mission to Battambang province on behalf of the Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology. The mission included consultations with the provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology and site inspections of major irrigation subprojects being implemented with support financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The ministry stated that the mission focused on two strategic subprojects: the Kanghot irrigation system subproject, and the Sangker River water management and O Sralau rehabilitation subproject. According to the announcement, the purpose of the field inspection was to help advance and accelerate detailed studies so that future project implementation would be effective, transparent, and aligned with established technical standards.
MOWRAM said the planned infrastructure is intended to respond to the practical needs of farmers in the area. The ministry further stated that, once construction is completed, the infrastructure is expected to play an important role in supporting year-round agricultural water security and improving flood risk reduction in Battambang province.
During the mission, guidance was also given to the technical team to continue expediting studies and addressing implementation challenges in a timely manner so that the projects could proceed in line with ministry objectives and master planning.
