On 12 March 2026, Van Chantho, Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology and Project Director of the Integrated Water Resources Management Project (IWRMP), led a technical working group to meet with provincial officials and inspect irrigation infrastructure sites in Pursat province. The works are being prepared under financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The mission covered two subprojects: the Hong headworks structure in Pursat city and the Svay At irrigation system in Koh Chum commune, Kandieng district.
According to the ministry, the site inspection was intended to advance the detailed study phase and to clarify efficiency, transparency, and technical standards before construction begins. The ministry stated that, once completed, the water infrastructure is expected to support year-round agricultural water supply and strengthen flood prevention and mitigation capacity in Pursat province during the rainy season.
During the mission, the Under Secretary of State instructed technical teams and national and international consultants to accelerate studies and address implementation challenges in a timely manner so that the project can proceed according to its planned objectives and schedule.
