The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) announced that the Stung Touch drainage subproject, part of the project to drain and divert water away from Phnom Penh and surrounding areas, has reached nearly 100% completion.
According to the ministry, the subproject is located in Kampong Speu province. Its main works include rehabilitation of the Stung Touch watercourse over a length of 51 kilometers and construction of one water control structure measuring 8 meters in height, 51 meters in width, and 300 meters in length.
MOWRAM stated that Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Phnom Penh and satellite areas drainage and water diversion project comprise 10 subprojects. These include rehabilitation of 10 streams and canals with a combined length of approximately 260 kilometers, along with a total of 366 engineering structures.
The project covers 18 communes in 4 districts of Kampong Speu province, 28 communes in 5 districts and municipalities of Kandal province, 10 sangkats in 3 khans of Phnom Penh, and 15 villages in 2 communes of 1 district in Takeo province.
