Cambodia Standards Policy: National Standards Council Adopts 45 Cambodian Standards to Strengthen National Quality Infrastructure

Background

The National Standards Council adopted 45 Cambodian Standards at its 33rd meeting on 13 July 2026, formalising a set of international and regional technical specifications as national references. The package includes 13 European (Eurocode) standards, 26 ISO standards, four IEC standards, and two revised Cambodian standards.

The council’s decision aims to reinforce the country’s National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) by aligning technical requirements with internationally recognised norms and by providing common reference points for product quality, safety, and consumer protection. These adopted standards become the basis for technical conformity assessment, industrial specification, and trade-related technical discussions where the respective standards apply.

Scope of Application

The adopted instruments are declared Cambodian Standards and are intended to apply to the sectors and product categories covered by each international or regional standard, including structural engineering (Eurocodes), industrial quality management (ISO), and electrical/electronic specifications (IEC). Relevant public agencies, private laboratories, industry associations, and exporters are the primary users of the standards for technical alignment and specification.

Key Provisions or Decisions

The council approved 43 new adoptions from international and regional bodies and two revisions to existing national standards. The explicit composition of the adoption package is: 13 Eurocode standards, 26 ISO standards, four IEC standards, and two revised Cambodian standards.

Implications for Investors, Businesses, or Compliance

Adoption of international standards as national standards can reduce technical barriers to trade by providing exporters and regulators with harmonised technical references and accepted testing benchmarks. Businesses should review the specific standards adopted to assess changes to product specification, testing requirements, and procurement criteria, and consult MISTI or the National Standards Council for the authoritative texts and implementation timelines.
