On 26 December 2025, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport Hang Chuon Naron met with Cambodian companies and donors to discuss the provision of temporary classrooms for use in refugee camps. The discussion focused on whether temporary classroom structures could be arranged in a suitable and sufficient manner to meet the learning needs of displaced students.
The ministry said the meeting took place in the context of continued displacement linked to conflict along the Cambodia-Thailand border. It referenced broader guidance concerning support for displaced civilians, including shelter, food, health care, and temporary learning facilities.
According to the ministry, several Cambodian companies and donors have worked with the China Alumni Association of Engineering and Architecture of Cambodia to build temporary shelters for displaced persons. The entities named in the post include ISI GROUP, the KMH Foundation, Chip Mong Group, GGEAR Group, Koolen Alpha, volunteer youth for education, and other donors.
The post stated that the wider shelter initiative could deliver 3,000 temporary tents. It also said donors confirmed support for 300 temporary classroom tents to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport for redistribution to displacement sites with urgent needs.
The ministry further stated that it is continuing to organize temporary classrooms and temporary libraries in safe areas within refugee camps. It added that it remains open to receiving materials, funding, study kits, essential supplies, and food items from donors for onward distribution to education staff, teachers, and displaced students in the provinces.
