On 27 January 2026, Mao Hak, Vice-Chairman of the Tonle Sap Authority and head of the working group, led a technical team from the Authority’s General Secretariat to inspect, dismantle, and reinstall the Tnaot Chum hydrology and meteorology station at a new location in Kampong Thom province.
The activity was conducted with authorization from Minister Thor Chetha, Chairman of the Tonle Sap Authority, and in coordination with the Kampong Thom Department of Water Resources and Meteorology and relevant local authorities.
According to the announcement, the original hydrology and meteorology station at Tnaot Chum on the Stung Chinit was affected by construction of a rural road and one bridge under the Rural Infrastructure Development for Cambodia program managed by the Ministry of Rural Development. The affected site is located at Tnaot Chum Bridge, Stung Chinit, Tnaot Chum Commune, Baray District, Kampong Thom province.
Following the field inspection, the working group also studied and selected a new location for installation of one station at the Stung Chinit water control structure, at coordinates X:502661, Y:1384169, in Kong Meas village, Pnov commune, Santuk district, Kampong Thom province.
The post states that this hydrology and meteorology station is used to measure water levels and meteorological conditions. It is one of 11 stations received through cooperation between the Tonle Sap Authority and the Nanjing Institute of Hydrology and Water Resources Automation and Research of China’s Ministry of Water Resources under a 2021–2022 pilot project on hydrological data observation and automatic transmission technology in the Tonle Sap basin.
