Background
The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Information (Committee No.5) conducted an onsite review of the Bavet international border checkpoint on 2 September 2026 to observe entry–exit controls and local administrative arrangements. The delegation examined procedural compliance with immigration and labor-related rules in the border area and nearby special economic zone, and encouraged local authorities to strengthen professional accountability and to deploy modern technologies to improve service efficiency. Immigration controls at Bavet include procedures for registering entry and exit of travelers and inspecting goods, in line with Cambodian immigration law and labor regulations applicable in border and special economic zone areas.
