On 10 March 2026, the Secretariat-General of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia held a meeting at the National Assembly Palace with a delegation from the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) of China. The meeting involved H.E. Dr. Chheang Vannarith, Deputy Secretary-General and Chairman of the Advisory Council of the National Assembly, and Professor Yang Jiemian, Chairman of the Academic Advisory Council of SIIS.
According to the National Assembly, the discussion focused on strengthening cooperation between Cambodian and Chinese think tanks, sharing institutional experience, and promoting policy research collaboration. Dr. Chheang Vannarith stated that continued exchanges between research institutions and parliamentary bodies contribute to knowledge exchange and policy dialogue between Cambodia and China.
He also linked the initiative to support from Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, for policy research and think tank development within the National Assembly, with the stated aim of strengthening evidence-based policymaking and institutional capacity. Professor Yang Jiemian expressed appreciation for the visit and shared observations from his academic work related to parliamentary systems and international affairs.
