Background
MOWRAM convened a public dissemination meeting in Pursat province to present technical designs and the results of social, environmental, and gender impact assessments for the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) project. The IWRM project in Pursat includes preparation of technical designs and social, environmental, and gender impact assessments to inform site-level water resource interventions.
The project is co-financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The meeting brought together the project management unit (PMU), the project advisory group, provincial water resources and meteorology staff, commune- and sangkat-level land authorities, and affected local residents.
Key Developments
Deputy Secretary of State Van Chanthou, serving as project director, led the dissemination session and highlighted the technical presentations prepared by the PMU and the specialist team on social, environmental, and gender safeguards. Local participants from Svay At sangkat and Snem Preah commune in Bakan district reviewed the proposed technical solutions and expressed support, while commune and sangkat land authorities provided inputs on legal procedures and implementation scheduling.
