Background
On 23 March 2026, Pech Veasna, Under Secretary of State and project director at the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, led a technical team to inspect the implementation progress of the Stueng Khliech Water Resources Development Project in Oral district, Kampong Speu province. According to the ministry, overall project progress had reached approximately 19%.
Project Details
The project is located in Trapeang Thmaer village, Ta Sal commune, and Samaki village, Rasmey Samaki commune, Oral district, Kampong Speu province, about 82 kilometres from Chbar Mon city. The ministry described it as a strategic project for water resource management.
Key infrastructure to be implemented under the project includes one main dam, one spillway, one water gate structure, one control building, and a 13-kilometre access road to the project site together with several drainage culvert structures along the road.
Inspection Findings and Instructions
During the site visit, the Under Secretary of State instructed the technical consultant and construction company to maintain close attention to technical standards in order to ensure durable construction quality. He also emphasized compliance with the work schedule set out in the contract and called for strengthened construction-site safety measures to avoid workplace accidents.
