Background
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) of Cambodia administers fee-based transport services and oversees technical inspection procedures for motor vehicles.
MPWT holds responsibility for managing payment channels and the automation of fee collection for services under its mandate.
On 9 July 2026 MPWT held a progress-review meeting on the MPWT Digital Invoice system, which is intended to process public-service payments that are not yet integrated into the ministry’s existing automation platform and to enable submission of vehicle technical-inspection renewal applications through partner banks.
Key Developments
The meeting at MPWT headquarters on 9 July 2026 was chaired by Undersecretary Nim Sotha and included directors, deputy directors, representatives of relevant directorates, and technical specialists. Participants reviewed progress reports on the digital-invoice development and discussed preparations for official deployment and leadership-level approval within the ministry.
Institutional Role
The ministry identified the General Directorate and the Directorate of Technology and Public Communications among the units participating in system development and testing. Technical teams were publicly commended by senior leadership for completing planned development milestones and for preparing procedural submissions to streamline the internal approval process.
Operational Implications
MPWT stated the digital-invoice project aims to support faster and more convenient payment processing for public services, to expand electronic revenue collection channels, and to simplify vehicle inspection renewal procedures through bank partners. The ministry has directed teams to finalize technical readiness and to submit documentation for formal ministry-level adoption and operational rollout in the near term.
