Background
The General Department of Immigration (GDI) executes administrative removal procedures for non-citizens identified as unlawfully present under Cambodia’s immigration framework. GDI reported the removal of 788 foreign nationals of 21 nationalities from Cambodia between 1 and 10 August 2026.
Removal operations are implemented by GDI units that carry out identification, documentation and case processing under the direction of senior Interior Ministry leadership. The department publicly identified the investigative and procedural units as responsible for continuing these removal activities following ministerial guidance.
Enforcement Actions
GDI stated that the total number of foreigners removed was 788 individuals, including 92 women. The department listed 21 nationalities among those removed, including South Korea, China, Taiwan, Togo, Thailand, Nigeria, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Liberia, Vietnam, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Italy, Germany and Egypt.
Institutional Role
Senior officials within the Interior Ministry issued directives for GDI to continue investigative and procedural removal work, and GDI assigned its investigative department to implement those directives.
