Cambodia Customs signs 2026 cooperation document on intellectual property protection with Korea Customs
The General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia participated in a 2026 Trade Facilitation Policy Conference in Seoul and, on the sidelines, signed a 2026 joint cooperation document with Korea Customs regarding intellectual property protection. The Cambodian side also held bilateral discussions with Hong Kong Customs to accelerate preparations for mutual recognition of Authorized Economic Operator programs and to strengthen mechanisms addressing illicit tobacco tax evasion. National Police raid suspected online gambling and scam operation at casino; 107 foreign nationals found on site
A mixed operation conducted an inspection of a casino company in Svay Rieng province following suspected illegal online business activity. Authorities reported finding 107 foreign nationals of four nationalities and seized a large quantity of electronic devices. Police concluded that 4 suspects were involved in illegal online gambling via a website and 2 suspects were linked to online technology-based fraud; the remaining 101 foreign nationals were transferred to immigration authorities for further procedures. Minister of Public Works and Transport conducts on-site enforcement against overweight freight vehicles
The Minister of Public Works and Transport led a mobile inspection operation in Prey Veng province targeting vehicles exceeding legal weight limits. Two trucks were found carrying total loads between 42 and 88 tons, exceeding permitted weight by 17 to 43 tons (68% to 95% overweight), and were fined in accordance with the road law (Article 60). The ministry also instructed installation of CCTV at mobile weighing stations and warned of strict disciplinary measures for any official involvement in facilitating overweight transport. Public advisory: providing or renting out bank accounts may constitute complicity in financial crime
The General Department of Digital Technology and Media under the Ministry of Interior issued a public compliance warning that selling, renting, or lending one’s bank account for a fee can enable criminal activity and may expose the account holder to liability as an accomplice. The advisory urges the public not to rent/sell accounts, not to accept funds of unclear origin on behalf of others, and to avoid contact with anonymous individuals soliciting bank-account use.
