Cambodia Credit Reporting: CBC Data Retention Rules for Credit Information

Background

Credit Bureau Cambodia (CBC) records both positive credit information (good repayment history) and negative credit information (late repayment history) on consumer credit reports. The bureau’s published retention timelines define how long each type of entry remains available for credit assessment and institutional recordkeeping.

Credit Bureau Cambodia retains positive credit information on individual credit reports for up to 10 years. CBC retains negative credit information for three years after the related loan has been fully repaid to banks and financial institutions.

Policy Context

Data retention periods determine the historical window of repayment behavior visible to lenders and other authorized users of credit reports. Clear retention limits also shape data management practices within credit reporting infrastructure by setting time horizons for record archival and removal.

Operational Implications

For financial institutions, the CBC timelines establish the maximum span of customer repayment history available when assessing creditworthiness and pricing risk. For consumers, the contrasting retention durations mean favorable repayment records can influence credit profiles for a substantially longer period than resolved negative entries.
