Cambodia Drug Enforcement: National Police Nationwide Narcotics Suppression and Seizures

Background

The National Police of Cambodia leads coordinated narcotics suppression operations through municipal and provincial units across the country. Law enforcement in Cambodia records drug offenses by category—such as trafficking, transport/storage, and personal use—to support criminal investigation and charging decisions.

Narcotics suppression operations produce case-level data on arrests, case types, and seized quantities that ministries and courts use for prosecution and sentencing. Official operational summaries typically list participating units, the number of cases and suspects, and the weight of seized controlled substances to document enforcement outcomes.

Key Developments

On 15 May, nationwide narcotics enforcement yielded 10 separate cases and the arrest of 22 suspects. Authorities reported a total seizure of 484.27 grams of methamphetamine (Ice) in the combined operations.

Enforcement Actions

Reported case breakdown by alleged offense type and suspects: 1 trafficking case with 3 suspects; 5 transport/storage cases with 10 suspects; and 4 personal-use cases with 9 suspects. The operational summary noted zero female suspects among the 22 individuals arrested.

Provincial and municipal seizure details reported by participating units were: Phnom Penh (municipal): 1 trafficking case (3 arrested) and 2 use cases (3 arrested), seizing 469.84 g Ice; Battambang: 1 storage case (2 arrested), 2 use cases (6 arrested) and 1 search/arrest operation (1 arrested), seizing 3.14 g Ice; Kampong Chhnang: 1 storage case (5 arrested), seizing 0.25 g Ice; Pursat: 1 storage case (1 arrested) and 1 search/arrest operation (1 arrested), seizing 7.22 g Ice; Stung Treng: 1 storage case (1 arrested), seizing 0.32 g Ice; and one unit labeled “PM” in Kratie: 1 storage case (1 arrested), seizing 3.50 g Ice.

Institutional Role

Six distinct units took part in the operations, including five police units and one unit reported as “PM” in Kratie. The National Police of Cambodia compiles case totals and seizure weights to provide a province-by-province enforcement record for follow-up investigations and judicial processing.
