Background
Cambodia’s anti-drug enforcement system is led by national and subnational law enforcement bodies, including the National Police and the Royal Gendarmerie, which investigate drug trafficking, transport, storage, and related offenses. Drug enforcement in Cambodia typically involves provincial operations, evidence seizure, suspect detention, and case reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
Narcotics enforcement is part of Cambodia’s internal security and public order framework. Official drug crackdown summaries provide administrative records of arrests, offense types, seized substances, and the agencies involved, which helps document enforcement patterns across provinces over time.
Key Developments
According to the National Police of Cambodia, authorities recorded 10 drug-related cases nationwide on 13 April. A total of 22 suspects were detained in connection with the operations.
Of the 10 cases, two were classified as trafficking cases involving eight detainees. The remaining eight cases involved transport or storage offenses and resulted in 14 detainees, including one woman.
Authorities reported total seizures of 35.96 grams of methamphetamine, 9.82 grams of ketamine, and 9.96 grams of MDMA.
Seven units participated in the crackdown. Five were police units and two were Royal Gendarmerie units.
The police units reported the following provincial results: Battambang carried out one warrant-related case with one arrest; Kampong Cham handled one trafficking case with seven arrests and seized 20.68 grams of methamphetamine; Kandal handled three storage cases with three arrests and seized 2.73 grams of methamphetamine; Pursat handled one storage case with one arrest and seized 5.88 grams of methamphetamine; and Takeo handled two storage cases with eight arrests, including one woman, and seized 4.64 grams of methamphetamine.
The Royal Gendarmerie units reported the following results: Kampong Speu handled two storage cases with two arrests and seized 2.03 grams of methamphetamine; and Preah Sihanouk handled one storage case with one arrest and seized 9.82 grams of ketamine and 9.96 grams of MDMA.
Implications
The report serves as an official enforcement snapshot of Cambodia’s nationwide anti-narcotics operations for a specific date. It is relevant for tracking provincial enforcement activity, the division of roles between police and gendarmerie units, and the types of narcotics substances recorded in official seizures.
For researchers, compliance teams, and policy observers, the figures provide reference data on how Cambodia’s security authorities document drug cases by offense type, detainee count, and seized evidence. The publication also supports longer-term monitoring of enforcement patterns in trafficking, transport, and storage cases across provinces.
