Background
On 10 March 2026 in Phnom Penh, Lieutenant General Muong Sothea, Deputy Commissioner General of the National Police and leader of the Central Department of Judicial Police, held a meeting and solidarity meal with James McCabe, Executive Director of the Child Protection Unit (CPU), and colleagues. The meeting was held with authorization from National Police Commissioner General Sao Sokha and was attended by Lieutenant General Chhun Chansokha, head of the Department of Technical and Scientific Police, together with other department officials.
According to the National Police statement, the meeting reviewed cooperation between the General Commissariat of National Police and CPU in the investigation and suppression of child abuse offences involving children under 15 years of age. The statement said this cooperation had produced notable results in previous years and in 2025.
