On 12 March 2026, the Ministry of Health announced that Minister of Health Professor Chheang Ra met with Dr. Mariana Trias, the World Health Organization Representative in Cambodia, to discuss cooperation related to tuberculosis control and upcoming international health events.
The meeting addressed preparations for World Tuberculosis Day 2026 and an online talk show to be held on 18 March 2026 under the theme Yes! We Can End Tuberculosis. The ministry said both sides reaffirmed close cooperation and Cambodia’s commitment to sharing its experience and continuing collaboration with WHO to end tuberculosis and promote public well-being.
According to the ministry, the discussion also reviewed Cambodia’s health-sector progress, the country’s role in the Francophonie network in the context of the Francophonie Summit to be hosted in Phnom Penh later in 2026, and the importance of Cambodia’s participation in the upcoming global One Health summit in Lyon, France, in April.
