Senate Commission Visits Bak Kheng Water Treatment Plant Construction Sites

Republic of Korea to Increase 2023 Quota for Cambodian Workers Above 10,000
The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training reported that the Republic of Korea has pledged to raise the 2023 quota for Cambodian workers to more than 10,000. The commitment was made during a meeting between Minister Ith Samheng and UH Soobong, Head of the Human Resources Development Unit of the Republic of Korea, which also discussed faster worker selection and reintegration of returnees.

A Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce led the Cambodian delegation to the 20th ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area Joint Committee (AANZFTA FJC) meeting in Bandung, Indonesia, held from 14–17 February 2023. The meeting reviewed outstanding issues and progress related to the negotiations to upgrade the AANZFTA agreement, with Cambodia reiterating its commitment to concluding the upgrade for subsequent signing by ASEAN, Australian and New Zealand economic ministers.

Ministry of Tourism Launches HoKa Assessor Training for Northeastern Provinces

The British Royal Navy vessel HMS SPEY (P234) made a five-day port call at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port from 13–17 February 2023, marking the first visit of a United Kingdom naval ship to Cambodia. The visit focused on courtesy calls, friendship-building, and joint naval exercises between the Royal Cambodian Navy and the UK Royal Navy.

MOWRAM Inspects O&M and Rehabilitation of Vai Ko and Prek Me Khsay Irrigation
The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology conducted a technical inspection of routine operation and maintenance for the Vai Ko (Phase 1) irrigation system spanning four provinces and an anniversary rehabilitation of the Prek Me Khsay irrigation system in Prey Veng province. The works cover canal earthworks, hydraulic structures, and drainage facilities supporting wet and dry season irrigation over several thousand hectares of farmland.
