Ministry of Environment Extends Zero Snaring Campaign to Koh Kong Province
The Ministry of Environment and conservation partners announced the launch of the Zero Snaring Campaign in Koh Kong province, the ninth province to host this initiative. On 16 May 2023 the campaign will begin following a press conference led by Secretary of State Neth Pheaktra to brief national and international media on objectives to reduce and prevent snares in protected areas and improve wildlife safety.

Ministry of Mines and Energy Promotes Fuel Station Oversight in Oddar Meanchey
The Ministry of Mines and Energy led a working meeting with the Oddar Meanchey Provincial Department of Mines and Energy and fuel and gas station operators to promote oversight in the petroleum sector. The mission also included field inspections of selected stations, with a focus on safety risks, technical conditions, and renewal of expired operating validity with the ministry.

Czech Republic Commits to Expand Cooperation on Technical and Vocational Training
The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training met with representatives of the Czech Republic to review five years of cooperation from 2018 to 2023 and to set priority directions for the next five years starting in 2024. The Czech side committed to further expand cooperation in building skilled human resources, with a continued focus on technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Cambodia.

Ministry of Environment Promotes Phase 2 of Zero-Snare Wildlife Protection Campaign
The Ministry of Environment held a press conference in Kampong Speu Province ahead of implementing Phase 2 of the Zero-Snare campaign on 9 May 2023. Officials and partner organizations outlined the campaign’s objectives to reduce wildlife snares in protected areas, discourage wild meat consumption, and enlist restaurants and citizens to pledge not to sell or eat wildlife products.

Ministry of Environment Participates in Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm COP Meetings
From 1–12 May 2023, a Cambodian delegation led by Secretary of State Sabo Ouchano of the Ministry of Environment attended the 16th Basel Convention COP, the 11th Rotterdam Convention COP, and the 11th Stockholm Convention COP in Geneva, Switzerland. The meetings reviewed implementation progress, considered draft decisions and amendments, and discussed workplans and budgets, while Cambodia reiterated its commitment to international environmental agreements and hazardous chemicals and waste management.

MAFF Signs MOU with Private Sector on Artificial Cattle Breeding Cooperation
Senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries facilitated the signing of a memorandum of understanding with a private agricultural company on artificial cattle breeding. The agreement links three public higher education institutions and a private farm to strengthen technical cooperation, human resources, and livestock productivity in support of Cambodia’s agricultural sector.
