On 6 January 2026, Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration (GDI) announced the deportation of 30 Vietnamese nationals, including six women, from the Kingdom of Cambodia through the Prek Chak International Border Police Post in Kampot province.
According to the announcement, the removals were carried out by the Department of Investigation and Procedure Enforcement under instructions from the leadership of the Ministry of Interior and the Director General of Immigration.
The cases cited by GDI included illegal stay and illegal employment without passports; illegal stay and illegal employment related to online scam activity without passports; intentional violence, unlawful detention, and unlawful entry into Cambodia after completion of sentence, without passports; and attempted illegal trafficking or use of narcotic substances after completion of sentence, without passports.
GDI stated that the deported individuals were received from several authorities: 24 people from the Investigation and Procedure Enforcement Office of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Commissariat, four people from the corresponding office of the Kampot Provincial Police Commissariat, and two people from Preah Sihanouk Provincial Prison.
