The Ministry of Environment reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2035 under its NDC 3.0 and to reach carbon neutrality by 2050, highlighting its current ASEAN ranking in renewable energy and plans to raise the share of renewable energy to 72% by 2035. During a meeting with Tzeporah Berman, founder and chair of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty initiative, Cambodia was invited in principle to host the 3rd international conference on fossil fuel phase-out in 2027 or 2028, and the ministry also noted preparations to inaugurate a model carbon-neutral island.

The National Assembly reported that English-language newspaper Khmer Times featured its recent seminar on enhancing national resilience through economic security as a front-page lead. The seminar addressed Cambodia’s strategy on governance of science, technology, innovation, industry and trade, emphasizing industrial transformation, digital sovereignty, cybersecurity and STEM human capital development. On 17 March 2026, the General Department of Immigration deported 776 Vietnamese nationals associated with online scam activities, following their arrest in Banteay Meanchey province. The group was removed via the international border checkpoints of Bavet in Svay Rieng and Trapeang Sre in Kratie under Cambodia’s strict legal measures against technology-driven crime.

Representatives of the Accounting and Auditing Regulator presented Cambodian Public Sector Accounting Standard 12 on inventories at a training organized by the General Department of National Treasury on 18 March 2026.
